A constant battle for natural oils.

From the day we are born, we begin to age. We began with that wonderfully soft, pliable skin and all those natural body oils that kept our skin, scalp and hair healthy and problem free. I won't say it's all downhill after that, but when we reach our mid-50's and older, our scalp oils change, and usually not for the better. We will find, most likely on a daily basis, that our natural scalp oils have slowed production...what we all wished for when we were in our teen-age years, right?  But now the pendulum has swung in the opposite direction and possibly for the first time in our life, we may be experiencing a dry, painful, itchy scalp. Our scalp may develop redness, sores, and dandruff-like flakes. At this point, it's time to take quick action to address these symptoms.

J.R.LIGGETT'S Shampoo Bars will not remove all of the natural oils your body produces. It removes the excess oils, the dirt and grime, but leaves some of your natural oils in tact to keep your scalp and body healthy naturally. It can alleviate and in some cases, stop these annoyances in their tracks. All are detergent free, and made with nourishing oils to balance your own body and scalp oils, specific herbal properties that address various skin and hair issues, and moisturizing ingredients to alleviate dryness.

The Ultra Balanced Shampoo Bar is unscented, thus terrific for skin and breathing allergies. Years of inhaling smog, indoor pollutants, and absorption of chemicals through our skin, can result in various sensitivities.

The Original Shampoo Bar made with 100% vegetable oil, will not strip your natural oils, lathers quickly, cleans well, rinses out easily. Basic, simple, smart.

The Herbal Shampoo Bar is comprised of an enticing combination of Rosemary, Lavender and Cedarwood. Rosemary contains anti-oxidants, is good for a dry itchy scalp, stimulates blood flow and circulation, soothes and conditions dry, flaky scalps, and is helpful in clearing dandruff. Lavender has anti-septic and anti-fungal properties, is good for treating eczema, heals wounds, and cuts. Fungal infections can affect healthy people as well as those with poor circulation, weak immune systems, diabetes, and people who take antibiotics or corticosteroid drugs. Warm, moist body areas such as the underarms, behind the ears, scalp and between the toes are likely locations for fungal growth. Lavender is also quite effective on lice, lice eggs, and nits. For centuries, Lavender has been well-known for it's calming and relaxing properties--a real bonus for those who of us who may have trouble sleeping.

The Tea Tree & Hemp Oil Shampoo Bar is fragrance free and contains Tea Tree which is capable of killing stubborn germs and helps in clearing skin infections. Scabies and mites may be picked up from hospital stays, and the resultant scratching and itching can cause bleeding that can lead to infection. Tea Tree blends easily with the skin's oils and alters the chemical barriers of the skin thereby making it inhospitable for the growth of fungi and other organisms. This shampoo bar also contains almond oil which is a great source of Vitamin E. Almond oil moisturizes and is great for itchy, dry skin and is very healing and soothing. It makes hair strong and thick and controls hair loss.

The Damaged and Dry Formula Shampoo Bar contains Vitamin E, Aloe Vera, and Almond Oil. Aloe Vera is terrific for cuts, burns, minor skin irritations, and is very soothing and healing. This Shampoo Bar is great for cold weather where the lack of humidity either indoors or out, can dry our skin.

The Jojoba & Peppermint Shampoo Bar contains Jojoba oil which promotes skin healing (sores and wounds) and fights bacteria. Peppermint relieves skin irritation, dermatitis, neutralizes the dryness of the scalp, and reduces skin redness. Plus, it's fresh scent lifts our spirits and invigorates the scalp and skin.

Let's face it, our skin changes with aging and time. The accumulation of those summers we spent developing our tans, hours in a tanning bed, and just the passage of the years themselves, has taken a toll on the condition of our skin. We might not appreciate the effects, and to a certain extent, we do have to live with some of the results of the previous years of abusing one of our most visible organism--our skin. Some of us age more gracefully than others in the sense that our skin may look younger, but inevitably, skin tissue does break down and presents various troublesome issues to deal with.

In older men and women, the slowdown of the oil production in sebaceous glands continues and even gathers pace, so that the skin dries and thins. Older skin is less elastic, less oily, and thinner, thus making it more susceptible to injury. The signs of earlier skin abuse and damage becomes visible. In younger skin, the cells are replaced about every 21 to 40 days. As one ages, the cells regenerate more slowly, and the rate of replacement is approximately half what it was previously. We will notice our skin becoming drier and thinner due to fat loss. Scratches, cuts or bumps can take longer to heal. Older people will need to give their skin more care than when they were younger.

Many older people experience dry skin most often on their lower legs, elbows and lower arms. Some possible reasons could be from not drinking enough liquids, staying out in the sun, being in dry air (either indoors or outdoors), less oil produced, and using harsh, drying soaps and taking hot baths (warm water baths are less dehydrating). Because older people have thinner skin, scratching itches can cause bleeding that can lead to infection. Some medicines make the skin itchier. Itching can also cause sleep problems--waking up because of a feeling of 'tightness' in skin and it's resultant itching. Severe itchy skin (pruritus) can be very uncomfortable and cause sleep loss and other symptoms of skin problems.

The most common physical problems in older adults are changes is how well they can see, hear, move, and talk. There is less arm and shoulder movement, slower reflexes, and unsteadiness. Arthritis may be affecting our hand and arm strength resulting in difficulty in opening containers, unscrewing lids or simply grasping an object. Safety is an issue as we age. We aren't as limber or manually dexterous as we once were. With the Shampoo Bar, we can have the bar in one hand, lather up the hair or body and rinse, all the while holding onto a safety bar with the other hand-- the Shampoo Bar is a safer solution for an unsteady body. The point is, the Shampoo Bar is not only for your hair, as it is perfect for all over body use, benefit, and enjoyment due to it's mildness and lack of harsh chemicals.

We all can see the need to stretch our dollars, and J.R.LIGGETT'S Shampoo Bars are known for value and quality and affordability. As most liquid shampoos are mostly water, one 6.5 ounce bar equals approximately a 24 ounce bottle of shampoo. The Shampoo Bars normalize your hair oils resulting in a less frequent need to wash your hair, which means less skin and scalp dryness to deal with, ultimately resulting in less bar use. This may be one instance when getting older actually pays! There is no waste as there is no liquid to drip down one's fingers and run down the drain. And why make decisions difficult with a cluttered tub surround holding many different and perhaps harmful bathing products? Using J.R.LIGGETT'S Shampoo Bar for all bathing needs is a 'value-wise' solution.

J.R.LIGGETT'S Foam Face & Body Washes are an excellent accompaniment to the Shampoo Bars. Three scents are featured: Western Slope, Lemon Lime, and White Sage. All contain saponified olive oil, coconut oil, castor oil with safflower oil, almond, hemp or jojoba oil, and Vitamin E. No detergents to dry out the skin, only moisturizing ingredients to alleviate the dryness. The foam is so gentle, soft and feels luxurious... ahhhh... just what the doctor ordered.

Remember when taking a warm water shower or bath, to always use a soft cloth or sponge instead of a rough washcloth. Do not scrub or rub the skin extensively. Gently pat skin dry and then apply J.R.LIGGETT'S Spray Body Oils in Lavender, Lemon-Lime, or White Sage as a self-pampering, finishing touch. The body oils are a unique formula combination of fast absorbing oils that will moisturize your skin without feeling 'greasy'. They do not contain any corn oil (for those with corn oil allergies) or olive oil (which does not absorb easily), or alcohol (which dries the skin). A little goes a long way. Such a simple and easy solution for dry skin.

Aging is inevitable, but J.R.LIGGETT'S products provide a solution to many of it's accompanying problems.
